Now it's time to use the pin that I placed in the housing to locate the center. From there I can drill out the hole for the reciprocating rod.
Drilling cast iron is nice. It makes small chips that flow easily up the flutes of the drill bit. An added bonus is that most cast iron work is done without lubricant. So it's cleaner as well...which means less cleaning later!
The nut holding the housing to the angle plate was interfering with the drill. I ground a clearance into the nut so the drill would pass by with no issues.
When your reamer is too long...
...shorten it.
Out comes the pin.
With the filer body on its side, I located the hole that the pin had previously occupied. It was at this point that I forgot to continue taking pictures, but it's pretty simple. I drilled and tapped the hole.
